Test driving a BMW 3 Series Touring Wagon
This week we bought a 2011 BMW 328i X-Drive touring wagon. I have to say it is once of the nicest wagon packages on the market today. BMW is renown for its great cars and this vehicle is no exception. My driving impressions are that it is a sweet car that handles very similarly to the infamous BMW sedan with a firm ride, great steering and more than acceptable performance.
This 3 Series has BMW’s mid range engine a very smooth and yet powerful 3.0 litre inline 6 cylinder. BMW has done a fabulous job refining this engine series and with 230 HP it is not a slouch when it comes to daily driving. Couple this with BMW’s XDrive all wheel drive the car has all weather capability providing traction and control in all the adverse weather conditions we encounter here in New Brunswick.
My driving impressions were delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the car was equipped. This particular Touring Wagon has the optional Executive package which includes Navigation ( split screen available), Bluetooth connectivity, CD changer, split zone climate control, power memory seat adjustments, power panorama sunroof to let lots of light in, Harmon Kardon stereo with surround sound, heated seats, and BMW’s ergonomically designed synthetic leather seating.
The 3 series touring wagon is a great option for family’s instead of moving up to a mid size CUV/SUV. There is plenty of cargo room, its physically is easier to maneuver, park and get in and out of. Generally it will provide ample space for nearly any family with the practicality of the wagon. The BMW 328 XDrive touring wagon will provide its owner the fun of driving a nice car yet still have some very practical uses.
